CHIROPRACTIC

What is chiropractic and how can it fit your health care needs? Chiropractors are allied medical care practitioners. We specialize in all of the bodies moving parts, and the systems that keep them moving.

What do we treat?

Chiropractor assess and treat the neuromusculoskeletal system with an emphasis on the spine.  I treat everything from acute injuries to chronic injuries, which can occur in or at the workplace, during athletic or leisure activities, or as the result of motor vehicle accidents. I also provide treatment to people looking to correct posture or poor movement patters, or to recover after a surgery. I have a specialty in concussion assessment and rehabilitation.

What is the musculoskeletal system?

The musculoskeletal system is basically everything that keeps your body upright and allows it to move. This includes the bones, joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. The neuromusculoskeletal system is expanded to include the nervous system. The nervous system is basically the control center of the body which regulates and monitors all of its processes. It is made up of the brain, the spinal cord, and all the nerve that signal to and from the muscles, organs, glands, and vessels.

The initial appointment

The assessment portion of my patient interactions consist of taking a thorough history followed by a hands on and movement centered physical examination. At the completion of the assessment a diagnosis or clinical impression will be given to you, as well as a treatment plan.

Treatment

I practice diversified, evidence based, and patient centered Chiropractic. This basically means that my treatment style pulls from some traditional and modern chiropractic techniques with the focus being on treatment modalities which are backed up by scientific evidence and research. Furthermore, I take patient preference and goals into account when I build a treatment plan ensuring that every patient treatment plan is individualized. No treatment is a "have to do" in my office. Your treatment plan is built with best evidence as well as what you will tolerate.

How does a chiropractor fit into your healthcare team?

I treat alongside many other professionals when managing treatment plans for patients which include medical doctors, physiotherapists, councillors, psychotherapists, naturopaths, trainers, registered massage therapists, and yoga instructors to name a few.
